Fr. Séamus of Jesus, CMMLA is a Carmelite priest who was born into an Irish-American Catholic family and raised in Andover, MA. He attended St. Augustine's grammar school, Lexington Christian Academy and graduated from prep school Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, CT. Fr. Séamus holds a B.A. degree in philosophy from Boston College with significant coursework in music and Spanish, a MDiv. degree in sacramental theology from St. John’s Seminary and a M.Ed. in mental health counseling from Cambridge College. For many years, Fr. Séamus held numerous positions in software sales, with roles at SAP, Oracle and MongoDB.
In 2001, Fr. Séamus was ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Boston by the late Bernard Francis Cardinal Law. After voluntarily deciding to leave active ministry in the Roman Catholic Church, Fr. Séamus returned to active ministry as a priest in the American National Catholic Church (ANCC) with his incardination into the ANCC in 2024. Fr. Séamus currently serves as Pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel American National Catholic Church and Prior General of the ANCC’s new Carmelite order, the Carmelite Missionaries of Merciful Love in Action (CMMLA). He also serves as the ANCC's Vicar for Vocations. In addition to these duties, Fr. Séamus is a mental health clinician and serves as priest-chaplain with Dignity Hospice. Fr. Séamus’ lives in Melrose, Massachusetts with his husband Bon and their standard poodle, Jackie O.
